2 CRPF men injured in grenade explosion
Updated at 2030 hours IST,BR> Srinagar, Mar 10: Two paramilitary CRPF troopers were injured in a grenade explosion in downtown here on Saturday evening, police sources said. They said suspected militants hurled the grenade towards a company headquarter of 118 battalion of CRPF at NoorBagh injuring two CRPF men. The injured were rushed to a hospital.

 

Youth arrested for carrying grenades

Srinagar, March 10: Police on Saturday claimed that it arrested a youth carrying two grenades in frontier district of Kupwara. A police spokesman said that Police arrested Javed Ahmad Mir, son of Ghulam Ahmad Mir, of Check Nutnusa from Haran Chogal Handwara today. "Two hand grenades and a huge quantity of medicines were recovered from his possession," the spokesman said.

 

Blind murder case solved: Police

SSP Srinagar S A Mujtaba while addressing a news conference here said, “On 19th of last month locals of Qamarwari found an unidentified male body floating in river Jhelum. On Close examination of the body, some tying marks were found around the wrist and there was a noose tied around

 

No water, electricity triggers protests

Bandipore, Mar 10: Residents of Bazipora Ajas staged a massive protest demonstration here in north Kashmir against the non-availability of drinking water and electricity. Protesters staged a sit-in on Bandipore-Ajas road and blocked the traffic. " We have been suffering and have been compelled to drink contaminated water," said a protester, adding, " For past one month our area has been reeling under darkness.

 

1 killed, 6 injured in highway mishap

Jammu, Mar 10: One person was killed and six others injured in a road mishap near on Jammu-Srinagar highway on Saturday morning. Reports said that a Srinagar bound Tata Sumo (No JK-02-V- 2871) met with an accident near Shaitani Nallah killing a passenger on spot and injuring six others. The injured were rushed to a hospital.(GKNS)

 

Woman's body exhumed

Srinagar, Mar 10: An unidentified body of a woman was exhumed for DNA test from Dalgate here on Saturday. Sources said that body was exhumed to ascertain whether it was of a police constable Neelofar posted in Badami Bagh who disappeared under mysterious circumstances last year.(GKNS)

 

30 injured in Handwara accident

Srinagar, Mar 10: At least 30 people were injured in a road mishap in frontier district of Kupwara on Saturday morning. Reports said the passenger bus (No. JKD-5444) turned turtle near Mawar Kargam in Handwara tehsil injuring 30 commuters. The injured were rushed to a hospital where condition of 4 injured commuters was stated to be critical. (GKNS)

 

Civilian injured in explosion

Srinagar, Mar 10: A civilian identified as Lateef Ahmed Shah s/o Muhammad Shafi was injured when he stepped over a land mine planted near an Army camp at Pohru Nagam in south Kashmir's Islamabad district on Saturday, a local news agency KNS said. It said that the injured was rushed to a hospital.

PDP AGAIN ABSTAINS FROM CABINET
Demands discussion on troop withdrawal


Jammu, Mar 9: For second time the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stayed away from Cabinet meeting on Friday indicating serious differences within the ruling coalition.
Earlier this month, PDP stayed away from the Cabinet meeting convened by the chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad.
Sources said a high-level meeting of all the PDP ministers was held at the residence of PDP president Mehbooba Mufti in which it was decided that PDP ministers will remain away from today’s Cabinet meeting.
